the River’s Source 2014

Gene17’s the River’s Source – a white water gathering

Hello Paddler,

We would like to invite you to Devon, to the River’s Source – a white water gathering.

We’ve brought together some of the UK’s finest coaches with original clinics for you to enjoy a chance to learn from leading lights and cutting edge paddlers. For near beginners to elite paddlers we have clinics for all to enjoy, ex-world champions to learn from, youth expedition pioneers, core sport kayakers and major contributors to the white water kayaking community.

We have a special guest in the form of Steve Fisher, to present a lecture on Saturday evening. See below for some of the fun you can join in.

Ready for the off at New Bridge during the River’s Source

Gene17kayaking is known for its top draw, high quality coaching whilst running trips in popular destinations such as Valsesia in Italy, Sjoa in Norway and Soča in Slovenia.  Every autumn a full course programme is delivered in Devon and North Wales, and the Rivers Source marks the start of our residence in the UK.

Top Coaches Simon Westgarth, Deb Pinniger, Andrew Bonney, Chris Eastabrook, Matt Tidy & Nick Horwood offer a range of clinics over 3 days.

  • absolute FUNdamentals of white water
  • Boof’s and Drops
  • Get on the “LaunchPad”
  • Fly your Upper Dart lines
  • Looking for the “Next Generation”
  • BCU 4 Star Training WW Kayak

We welcome Steve Fisher to the River Dart Country Park for a Saturday evening to remember.  Explorer, Film Maker and Master Kayaker, Steve has pioneered highly dynamic freestyle moves, descended virgin white water in remote canyons and contributed to the development and understanding of white water kayaking the world over. Films such as Halo Effect and Congo, make him out as a visionary film maker. Whilst more recently he has presented at the acclaimed TED Talks.

This is a not to be missed evening on Dartmoor, FREE also and can be found at the Rivers Source.

During the Rivers Source’s early years we hosted a day of community action, primarily this is a river cleanup, lead by key local paddlers, with resources and key information provided by the Environment Agency. The River Clean Up’s have now become so successful, that we are looking to expand across the UK, see River Clean Up for an overview of what’s going on.

Pringle & Katya, love Freestyle Kayaking and offer top freestyle coaching & clinics for all abilities from the 2011 World Champion.

At the Rivers Source they will offer both an intro to Playboating and Playboating Workshops for those wishing to learn new moves and nail ones they have been working on.

In addition to the day clinics and 2 day course, we’ll have the Palm Throw Bag Olympics during Saturday late afternoon.

We’re have test kayaks too on offer and of course our key note speech too, plus DJ for late on Saturday evening.

As you see, it’s a full programme and there is more online at the River’s Source website. The booking have only been opened and some clinics are already near FULL, so if you wish to join us, please book soon!
